Both Aldon and Pau International Horse Trials are the deciders of the brand new Future Talent 2* League launched this season to celebrate and recognise young horses on their way up the ranks of international success.
To be eligible, qualifying horses must be nine years old or younger and must be ridden by a British rider; horses must never have competed at three or four star level. Points for the League are accrued at both CIC and CCI2* level at events on both British soil as well as overseas by the third week of October 2015.
Former GB Olympian, Daisy Berkeley has held her place at the top of the League for much of the season with Strike Smartly, an Irish-bred grey eight year old gelding owned by Fred and Penny Barker. They lead on 79 points.
Their 2* level form includes a top twenty placing at Osberton International Horse Trials in the CCI2*, fifth place at Gatcombe’s September fixture in the CIC2* class as well as second place in Bicton’s CIC2* in August.
The eventual winner of this inaugural League will be presented with £5,000 bursary at the EHOA awards dinner next month whilst the owners of the winning horse will also be presented with a stunning bronze during the presentation.
