Favourite Eventing moment: The Night Traveller winning the IN at Barbury International.
The Night Traveller as many of you know is a very special horse to me and Barbury is my favourite event, so when Hugo partnered with my very good friend Charlotte Rowe, won here during their first season together you can imagine how happy I was.
Having desperately wanted to compete at this wonderful event for a long time, we did so in 2015 but sadly things didn’t go plan, as so often happens with horse!
So to return a year later and win the class was just amazing and my most cherished eventing moment so far.
To add to the delight it was also my birthday and I later learnt that Charlotte had full intentions of winning the IN class for me that day.
Charlotte lead from the off with a fabulous dressage score of 25.9, with the closest score of 27.7 in 2nd place Charlotte new only a clean sheet in the showjumping and across the country would do.
Never to dissapoint the pair did just that and secured the win, and just to add to the excitement my 6yo mare LVS Quebec came 3rd in her Novice class also with Charlotte.
A wonderful day spent with great friends, family and wonderful horses in an amazing setting, everything eventing is.
I also received a wonderful vase engraved with “Barbury Castle Winner 2016” which takes pride of place in my kitchen.
A special day that I will forever hold in my heart.
