CIC*** Show Jumping
CIC*** Show jumping kicked off the day, today, at a very misty and atmospheric Fidelity Blenheim International Horse Trials.
The top ten after dressage remains largely unchanged. Piggy French and West Side added 3 time penalties to their dressage score leaving them on 39.3 to stay in second place behind Andrew Nicholson on Quimbo. Bettina Hoy on Designer 10 and William Fox-Pitt on Bay My Hero remain on their dressage scores in 3rd and 4th. Gemma Tattersall on Chico Bella P moved up one from 6th to 5th when ... Read More
At the end of a glorious day at the Fidelity Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials, we have an international top 10; Christopher Burton and his Aachen winner Under Discussion lead the CCI*** on an impressive score of 31.8.
"This is my first time riding at Blenheim and I had a fantastic ride. He's a lovely horse on the flat, he started out as a dressage horse with Christine Weal who is still a co-owner.
With cross country tomorrow, he added:

Another 8a.m. start but despite the autumn chill in the air, about 80 volunteer Fence Judges arrived at the Fidelity Hospitality Marquee to be issued again with the usual stop watches, flags, scorebooks, whistles, etc. As always, this amazing team chatted and swapped stories which all begin “I remember when I was a Fence Judge at ...........” and they always end with everyone in fits of laughter! Unfortunately, none of these stories can be repeated here!
Refreshed by a cup of really good coffee and another (calorie free) Danish pastry we all set off to ... Read More
The final much-coverted spot for automatic qualification for London 2012 for group F and G went to underdogs Japan after a nail biting and somewhat controversial show jumping phase.
The New Zealand team actually won the three—way team completion on a score of 171.8 but, as they have already qualified, it was a two way fight between Australia and Japan. The Australians were the bookie’s favourite to secure qualification but it was not to be. Behind the Japanese after cross-country, their challenge evaporated in ... Read More
The omens for Olympic success continue to bode well for Piggy French. She took home the £8,000 CCI*** winners cheque at the Fidelity Blenheim International Horse Trials courtesy of a win with her father Wally and Michael Underwood’s Greenwich Test Event winner DHI Topper W.
‘I’m so proud of him,’ she said of the 11-year-old which was bought from the Woodhead's last year. ‘Its taken a while for us to get to know each other and I’m so glad that I’ve been able to play around with him for the last year as he’s a ... Read More
William Fox-Pitt and the Fox-Pitt Eventing Partnership’s Oslo led from start to finish to win the increasingly popular and prestigious 8/9 year-old CIC*** at the Fidelity Blenheim Place International Horse Trials on a score of 43.5. He also demonstrated the strength of his string for 2012 and beyond by finishing third with Jeremy and Judy Skinner’s Lionheart. The latter had held equal third place after the first two phases with Sarah Cohen and Treason but a fantastic clear round inside the optimum time from Sarah and Preci Spark Ltd’s nine-year-old by Hand In Glove and out ... It was all change at the top of the leaderboard in the CCI before the show jumping had even begun with neither Piggy French’s leading horse, Judy Bradwall’s Lemington Lett Dance, nor Pippa Funnell’s ride Billy Landretti, who had been in third place overnight, being presented at the final trot up. Although obviously disappointed, Piggy did still have the consolation of going into the show jumping in the lead with DHI Topper W. On a score of 43.1, the pair has a fence in hand over runners-up America’s Tiana Coudray with Ringwood Magister. A truly international field, Germany’s ... Read More
