Horse Equipment for XC

Someone asked for an outline of what tack to use at what level. I think this equipment is essential for XC at every level; just because you might “only” be doing Intro does not mean that you might not need that breastplate, for example.

Neck strap, breast plate and stud girth

Bridle
Obviously good quality leather, which has been cleaned and checked regularly. Bit choices vary enormously, and their efficacy can depend almost as much on the way you ride as on the horse’s way of going, mouth anatomy, stage of training, etc. Different styles of noseband can also have a big effect on a horse’s braking system.

Really interesting comments about the elastic in girths. Its certainly made me re-consider my girthing options for jumping. Thank you.
