Adams takes JAS by storm at Bury Farm

The Baileys Winter Series Jumping and Style (JAS) qualifier moved on to Bury Farm on Monday (13th February), where several riders dominated taking home two, three and four qualifications each.

Bury Farm’s first winner of the day was Jo Thorogood in the BE90. This was Jo’s first ever British Eventing competition, and she qualified two horses for the final at Addington on 25th February finishing 1st and 5th in the section. Her winning horse Combo was also on his first BE outing.

Multiple qualifications were also in order for 2nd placed Alice Collard. She rode R Linka Sherkhan to 2nd in the BE90, and 4th in the BE100, but also went on to win the BE100 with another mount. Alice and 10-year-old gelding Optimist II not only took the top spot in the BE100 but took home a qualification in the Novice after finishing in 4th place. They had already gained a 3rd place in the BE100 at the earlier Solihull event.

On their tails in the BE100 were Elizabeth Mantel and Truly Scrumptious. This will be Elizabeth’s third time at the final in as many years.  In 2010 she finished 3rd in the BE90 and last year was 2nd in the Open with Caiomhes Delight, a horse which is already qualified after finishing in the top three of the Novice and Open and Merrist Wood. At Bury Farm Elizabeth was also riding Touplesse, who finished in 3rd in the Novice and 4th in the Open and so is qualified for the final.

Lily Bradstock, sister of former Charles Owen Pony Team gold medallist Alfie Bradstock was to head up the Novice leader board with 10-year-old Lydican Lad. The pair also qualified for the final in the BE100 section.

Arguably the most successful campaigner of the day was to be Zoe Adams who not only finished 2nd in the Novice with Mobster Du Parc, but also managed to take both top spots in the Open section and qualified in the BE90.

Zoe won the Open with two star ride Satonamillion, who also won the same section at Vale View last season and she took the 2nd spot with Mobster Du Parc, the 11-year-old gelding who was also 2nd in the Novice. Zoe only competed him once last year, and on that run managed a 5th in the Open at Eridge Horse Trials.

The Jumping and Style Bailey’s Winter Series heads to Arena UK on Saturday 18th February, followed by Merrist Wood on Sunday 19th.
