People and horses who inspire me: Ian Stark riding Murphy Himself used to defy the laws of physics and never cease to amaze me across country. These days I’m a real fan of the way Polly Stockton, Nicola Wilson, Piggy French and Mary King produce their horses and generally represent themselves and the sport.  I’m also in awe of the way Andrew Nicholson produces so many horses to such a high level and admire the fact that he’s not afraid to speak his mind. Outside of horses I think that the South African Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius is a total inspiration to any sportsperson. Its also a cliché but my daughter Caitlin constantly inspires me to do better and to strive to be slightly more organised and sensible than I’m sure I’d otherwise be!

Biog:
I started my career working for Eventing magazine full-time after leaving school in the late 1980’s when it was owned by Janet and Brian Hill. I then worked as  Sub-Editor and Features Editor for a couple of other country life titles before become quite ill in 1995 and spending a couple of years in hospital and then recuperating. After recovering from tis slight life crisis I them fell into a career in Human Resources which I precariously balance with freelance equestrian journalism and being a Mum to Caitlin. I evented up to Intermediate level in my youth but these days my main sport is distance running and I’m aiming to do my first Triathlon in 2012.
