Favourite Eventing moment: Watching [amidst the controversy] the 2004 Athens Olympics on TV when Team GBR picked up team Silver plus individual Bronze and Gold. A great result.
What is your favourite one day event? Firle Place Horse Trials because the jumps built by the Willis Brothers along with the bowl setting in front of Firle Place make the course beautiful.
What is your favourite International event? Blenheim, because it’s local to me and I’ve been going for years.
Which four team members would be in your multi-national fantasy Olympic eventing team? Would it be cheating if I said, Carl Hester on Totilas to deliver tens in the Dressage; William Fox-Pitt to jump a clear Cross Country on Tamarillo and Nick Skelton to Show Jump on Arko III. Those three members should secure Gold, but if I must choose a fourth, I suppose someone to watch it with wouldn’t go amiss, suggestions welcome …

People and horses who inspire me: People that work hard, do well, then help, teach and inspire others. A few famous names that spring to mind, Mark Todd, Frankie Dettori, Steve Redgrave, South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, Monty Roberts, Nelson Mandela, A P McCoy, plus so many others that aren’t world known. Horses must include Best Mate, Desert Orchid, Hawk Wing, Tamarillo, Totilas, Milton, Arko III.
Biog:
Brought up on a farm in Warwickshire, I’ve always been involved with horses. I learnt to ride on a Thelwell like Shetland pony, joined the Warwickshire Hunt Pony Club in the days of David Forsyth “DC Dave” and finished up with a Thoroughbred. I then went to university, met boys and started a career. Soon mum realised I wouldn’t be home to muck out much and I learnt that I could still ride without owning a horse (and in most cases get paid for doing so). I rode out for National Hunt owners and trainers through my teens namely Freddie Hutsby and Gabe Mahon and groomed a variety of horses including hunters, show ponies, yearlings, brood mares and pointers. I also spent time teaching at Rookery Stables as well as for the Pony Club.
From Stratford Girls Grammar School, I went onto Harper Adams University College. I read a BSc Hons in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, survived the Fresher’s Challenge, got elected as the Press and Publicity Officer on the Students Union, spent a year with Savills in Oxford, organised a few dinners, charity events and publications as well as meeting my now business partner, Paul White.
Upon graduation, I had a 2:1, a published research paper, an award or two, a full time job, a business partner and a taste for G&T that would stay with me forever.
Now, a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor, working full time for Savills, I own EW Sporting Ltd with Paul. We have a mutual love for hard work, new challenges, organising events, gin and tonic and a shared passion for promoting eventing and equestrian sport in the UK.
In our first year together, our clients have seen us organise, promote or attend Skipton Horse Trials, The Festival of British Eventing, Burgham Horse Trials, Bolesworth Classic, CLA Game Fair, Allerton Park Horse Trials, Hutton in the Forest, Eden Valley & Firle Place Horse Trials, amongst others. We’ve also been involved in delivering the new, safe and successful Express Eventing 2011 Series.
We have a fantastic team around us.
